In a telephone conversation, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic congratulated ex-Bulgarian President Rumen Radev on the victory of his party in the parliamentary elections in Bulgaria and expressed hope for the development of cooperation between official Belgrade and Sofia.
The Progressive Bulgaria party of former Bulgarian President Rumen Radev is leading in the parliamentary elections in the country with 37.5% of the vote, according to exit poll data from Alpha Research.
"I congratulated Radev on his election success and victory in Bulgaria. I am confident that these results will provide an opportunity to strengthen stability and progress, as well as to develop cooperation between Serbia and Bulgaria in the spirit of good-neighborly relations and common interests. Serbia remains committed to establishing partnerships and regional stability," Vucic wrote on the social network.
Parliamentary elections were held in Bulgaria on Sunday. As previously reported by the Bulgarian National Television (BNT), ex-President Rumen Radev enjoys a high degree of personal trust among citizens, who resigned from his post to personally participate in the elections and joined the Progressive Bulgaria electoral bloc. Opinion polls predict a convincing victory for him.
