Russian opera singer Sergei Moskalkov sued Channel One because of a joke about Russians that sounded in a recent issue of KVN. This is reported by the joint press service of the Moscow courts of general jurisdiction in the telegram channel.
The lawsuit was filed in the Ostankino District Court of Moscow.
It is specified that on May 1 in the program "KVN. Major League" with the participation of the Error 404 team, a joke was made that there are "a lot of Russians" in Moscow.
The applicant indicated that the remark was uttered "not in a neutral context", but as an answer to a question about the existing disadvantages of the capital of Russia.
"The applicant believes that this statement contains a derogatory assessment of Russians as a national and cultural community, forms a negative attitude towards Russian people, and also detracts from the dignity of the plaintiff as a Russian person and a resident of Moscow," the report says.
The plaintiff demands to recognize this statement as untrue, discrediting his honor, dignity and business reputation. He also demands to recover compensation for moral damage in the amount of 300 thousand rubles from Channel One JSC.
In his telegram channel, the artist published a statement of claim, noting that he had filed a lawsuit for a joke, as promised. He also called on "Russian people to spread."
The Error 404 team represents the State University of Management. The university has already called the joke of its team extremely unsuccessful and promised to conduct "explanatory work."
"Yes, the university agrees that the joke made during the "Warm-up", involving improvisation, was extremely unsuccessful. As a result of this incident, explanatory work will be carried out with the team members and editors," Tatyana Sharapova, head of the Department for External and Internal Communications of GUU, told the Rise portal.
She added that the university has students "from almost all regions of Russia and almost all nationalities of the country, as well as a lot of guys from Africa and Asia who, through intercultural exchange, acquaint the world with Russian culture."
