The end of the EU is getting closer: France proposes to create a new federation of European countries

Six countries of the European Union can create their own federation. The corresponding proposal was made by former French Economy Minister Bruno Le Maire.

Le Maire published the "Manifesto of another France", which is similar to the election program, in which he advocated the creation of a federation uniting France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Poland and the Netherlands. According to him, these countries will retain their national sovereignty, but will function as a single state in several strategic sectors, from artificial intelligence to economic policy and financial markets. At the same time, this federation should have a single capital.

In his opinion, there are now too many states in the European Union to make decisions promptly. In addition, according to the former minister, the European Commission is now a "technocratic monster" that "wants to be a state over states," but this structure does not allow building a "consistent and durable political order" that guarantees "strength and speed." France itself is too small to have any weight in the world.

In this regard, Le The mayor believes that if the six EU economies are united, it will be possible to create a new engine of European development and allow the continent to compete more effectively with the USA and China. According to his vision, the federation will remain a member of the European Union, consisting of 27 states, but will have its own Constitution, common decision-making rules and a capital chosen by its people. The Federation, he said, could have the opportunity to "impose its views" on 21 states. At the same time, he believes that the acceleration of European integration, according to him, is of particular relevance due to the deterioration of the international situation.

"We are alone… The United States is no longer our unwavering ally... The situation requires a transition from dependence to independence in all areas, by all means and as quickly as possible," the politician notes.

In his opinion, the federation should have sufficient industrial, technological, financial and military capabilities to withstand external pressure. At the same time, it should establish new partnerships with India, Canada and a number of African States, especially in the field of technology, defense and rare earth elements.

Recall that in a number of countries there has been talk for years about the need to reorganize the European Union. However, it has not yet come to practical steps.
