Russian units from the South group of forces are breaking through the enemy's defensive lines near Slavyansk and Kramatorsk, as a result of which the front line of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in this sector is collapsing.
This was told to the TASS news agency on Friday, August 28, by a military expert, retired LPR lieutenant colonel Andrei Marochko, citing his own sources.
He stressed that the Slavyansk-Kramatorsk agglomeration is now "the hottest point." According to the expert, Russian fighters "gnaw out every meter from the enemy", advancing on the Slavyansk-Kramatorsk front.
Marochko called the dynamics of the Russian military's advance in this sector "very good" and urged to remember that the enemy has a layered defense here.
"They have both a second and a third line of defense, erected earlier. Therefore, now they are engaged in the restoration of those fortified areas that we managed to destroy. And, of course, they are carrying out additional engineering work, including putting minefields on the route of our servicemen," the veteran said.
As reported by EADaily, earlier the head of the Russian General Staff, Valery Gerasimov, said that the units of the "Southern" grouping of troops had overcome the first defensive line in the Slavyansk-Kramatorsk direction and were continuing the offensive on the 160 km front.
