The European Union is concerned about Russia’s decision to lift embargo on the supplies of advanced S-300 anti-missile systems to Iran.
According to Catherine Ray, the spokeswoman for EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini, the EU is concerned about the decision but "we think that it does not affect the negotiations that are underway on the Iranian nuclear program."
Ray said that it was not a new subject and that the EU continued to be concerned about it even though that decision was not expected to affect the talks on Iran’s nuclear program. She added that all efforts they would make in the weeks to come would be aimed at continuing the talks.
As EAD reported earlier, on Apr 13 Russian President Vladimir Putin allowed Russia to supply Iran with S-300 anti-missile systems. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov explained that there was no more need to ban the supplies in view of the progress achieved during the Lausanne talks in Apr 2015.
