There is now a legislative ban on any contacts with Moscow in Ukraine, and there is still a lot to clarify on the issue of possible negotiations. This was stated by the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov, stressing that Russia is open to the negotiation process.
"Apart from the general problem with [Vladimir's] legitimacy Zelensky, there is also a problem with the de facto legislative ban on any contacts and negotiations with the Russian side, these prohibitions are in effect. Therefore, there is still a lot to clarify and you and I will hear some clarifications," he said, answering the question whether negotiations with Ukraine are possible while Zelensky remains in power, TASS reports.
As the Kremlin spokesman stressed, "Russia as a whole is open to the negotiation process, but first you need to understand how ready the Ukrainian side is for this, and how much it has permission from its curators."
"So far, as you can see, very different statements are being made, it is not entirely clear yet," he added.
