The head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, would like Italian Prime Minister Giorgio Meloni to mediate in the US negotiations on the transfer of Partiot air defense systems to Kiev. The Messaggero newspaper writes about this, citing its sources following the talks between Zelensky and Meloni on the sidelines of the economic forum in Cernobbio.
"Zelensky conceived a mediating role for Rome. He would like Meloni, the chairman of the G7 until the end of the year, to push Washington to transfer a significant number of Patriots before the star-spangled elections become too close," the publication says.
It is noted that the US elections are crucial for Kiev, depending on their results.
The meeting also discussed the transfer of the second Samp-T air defense system to Ukraine, which was approved in June. According to Messaggero, the shipment of Samp-T can be expected before the end of September.
The US presidential election will be held on November 5.
