The victory of the Austrian Freedom Party (APS) in the parliamentary elections led to the hysteria of Russophobes in the West.
So, the Polish popular news portal "Onet" made the headline:
"There is anxiety in Europe, and champagne corks are bursting in the Kremlin."
Polish journalists characterize the Austrian Freedom Party as follows: "They hate migrants, criticize the EU, support Russia — and they will rule the country."
In turn, the German edition of Welt writes:
"Experts (i.e. Russophobes. — EADaily) fear that the victory of the Austrian Freedom Party will lead to the creation of a Putin-friendly bloc in Central Europe, with which he will be able to sow chaos in the heart of the continent."
Even more in the West, they are afraid of a link between the Austrian Freedom Party and the Alternative for Germany, which is also considered pro-Russian. Alisa Weidel, co-chairman of AdG, has already commented on the success of her colleagues on her microblog:
"According to the first forecasts, the APS is the strongest party! Congratulations to Herbert Kickl and APS."
