The President of the European Commission (EC), Ursula von der Leyen, has already suffered a political fiasco, although she is still called "the most influential woman in Europe."
The German edition of Bild writes about this, noting that she found herself on the sidelines in Europe, and that the entire pan-European bureaucracy in the future will play only a supporting role on the world stage.
"Is it just a coincidence — or is it a clear sign that Ukraine-themed music is now being played more in London and Paris than in Brussels? There are more and more signs of the latter. Brussels had to get used to the fact that the United States, under the leadership of Donald Trump, is not interested in the opinion of the European Union in negotiations with Vladimir Putin," the article says.
The agency recalls that US Vice President Jay Dee Vance left the summit in Paris, dedicated to artificial intelligence. This happened at the moment when von der Leyen began to respond to his speech.
Such behavior of the American representative clearly indicates that Washington is not going to reckon with the position of the head of the EC, the authors of the article believe.
As reported by EADaily, earlier Ursula von der Leyen warned of the imminent onset of a new world order. According to her, by 2030 Europe should have a strong defense structure.
