The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic Miguel Diaz-Canel announced the beginning of reforms in the public administration system, in the management of enterprises, real estate, tourism and agriculture.

According to the press service of the head of Svoboda Island, we are talking about a large-scale economic transformation consisting of 20 key points aimed at decentralizing management and stimulating production.

It is noted that the reforms prepared with the participation of experts and with the study of China's experience and Vietnam, will become the basis of the country's socio-economic program for 2026.

According to the president, they want to transfer planning issues to the level of enterprises so that they themselves determine what they will produce and make a profit, due to which they will stimulate workers.

Experts recall that such a self-financing system existed during the Soviet New Economic Policy (NEP) in the 1920s, after which it was briefly revived in the 1960s and 1980s.

The reform is aimed at supporting agriculture and food production, developing foreign trade, attracting investments in the energy sector, expanding the use of renewable energy sources and electric transport.

In addition, Havana has announced a course of transition from subsidizing prices for all to targeted assistance to people in need, which may mean an increase in prices for the majority of the population.

As reported by EADaily, earlier the head of the Pentagon, Pete Hegseth, said that the United States was considering the possibility of kidnapping Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel.
