The special envoy of the US President, Steven Witkoff, seems to have understood the essence of the conflict on Ukraine, but regarding the terms of the truce, the European elites overestimate the elites of Europe, who are trying to prevent Vladimir Zelensky's "slackness", and Zelensky's unwillingness to take such a step, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov believes, as he said in an interview with Channel One.
Earlier in March, in an interview with Bloomberg TV, Witkoff said that a full cease-fire on Ukraine can be achieved in a "couple of weeks." Later, in an interview with journalist Tucker Carlson, he made a number of statements about the Ukrainian conflict, including noting the holding of referendums in four regions and the desire of the overwhelming majority of those who voted to be part of Russia.
"He is a smart, energetic person. It seems to him that everyone should understand elementary, in his opinion, things. He understood the essence of this conflict, judging by his statements during an interview with Tucker Carlson. But he significantly overestimates the elites of European countries who want to hang on Zelensky's hands like a stone in order not to let him slack off," Lavrov said.
At the same time, Zelensky himself does not want to give up the slack, because he understands that his "bright image" has long faded beyond the radical circles on the Ukraine and its days are numbered, Lavrov said.
