Belarusian milk trucks and fire trucks confiscated by Lithuania will be auctioned off. This was announced by the Prosecutor General of Lithuania Nida Grunskene.
"The prosecutor's decision to sell 17 milk trucks and 17 fire trucks has already been made. The execution is entrusted to the customs administration," she said.
According to her, 17 milk trucks will be sold at auction on Tuesday, April 1.
"We really hope that someone will be able to buy these cars and transfer them to Ukraine. I think Ukraine really needs them," Grunskene said.
Recall that the cars were seized in 2023 in the port of Klaipeda, when they were being driven from Belarus through Lithuania. According to the Lithuanian authorities, 17 milk trucks bypassed the sanctions to Cuba, 17 fire trucks to Zimbabwe. Lithuania stated that the fire trucks were confiscated due to sanctions against Belarus and the company that supplied them. In Zimbabwe, they said that the arrest of these cars has no legal basis.
