World pop stars Madonna and Elton John reconciled after two decades of enmity. As a sign of reconciliation, they made a joint photo, which has already been published on social networks.
According to The Guardian, the artists met backstage at the Saturday Night Live show, where Elton John performed with Brandy Carlisle. Madonna took the first step towards a truce — she came to a colleague's show and after that decided to congratulate him.
"We've finally buried the axe! I went to Elton John's performance on SNL this weekend," Madonna wrote in a comment to a joint photo.
She said that for two decades it was painful for her to admit that "someone she admired publicly expressed his dislike of her as an artist." Madonna recalled how, as a teenager, she first got to Elton John's concert, calling it "an unforgettable performance."
The singer stressed that it was Elton John who first asked for forgiveness.
"When I met him, the first thing he said was, 'I'm sorry.' And the wall between us collapsed. Forgiveness is a powerful tool. After a few minutes we hugged," recalls Madonna.
She also hinted at a possible duet with a song that Elton John wrote especially for her.
In response to a colleague's post, the composer once again publicly apologized to Madonna for "his big mouth."
Let's remind, the confrontation between the stars began back in 2002, when the song for the film Die Another Day (Die, but not now), which Elton John called "the worst Bond song", was released. In 2004, he fueled the conflict with outrage over the fact that Madonna was nominated for the Q Awards for "best live performance", accusing the singer of using a soundtrack. In 2012, Elton John called Madonna a "fairground stripper" and stated that her career was over.
