Washington's imposition of customs duties on many countries is one of the traditional ways of doing business for the United States, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said.
"During the day, American and retaliatory tariffs have grown even more. The bargaining is serious. For the States, this is one of the traditional ways of doing business. It is a shock for many countries," the diplomat wrote in her Telegram channel.
As EADaily reported, on April 2, US President Donald Trump announced the introduction of customs duties on products from 185 countries and territories, thereby hitting the global economy with record tariffs in 100 years. Universal tariffs of 10% came into force on April 5, individual tariffs will start operating on April 9. In addition, the US administration has imposed customs duties of 25% on all imported cars since April 3.
On April 8, Trump said that US duties on imported products bring the US $ 2 billion daily. He noted that Washington is negotiating with more than 70 countries that want to export their goods to the United States.
