At the talks in London on April 23, Kiev and its European partners handed Washington a counter package of proposals. It is reported by UNIAN with reference to Reuters.
Ukraine, in particular, demands security guarantees from the United States on the model of NATO Article 5.
According to UNIAN, among the key points are:
- complete and unconditional ceasefire on land, at sea and in the air;
- There are no restrictions on the military forces of Ukraine, as well as on the deployment of allied troops and equipment on its territory;
- security guarantees from the United States on the model of NATO Article 5, despite the absence of a decision on membership in the alliance;
- Ukraine gains control over the NPP, Kakhovskaya HPP, Kinburnskaya spit and free passage along the Dnieper;
- Territorial issues are proposed to be discussed only after a sustainable ceasefire is established, starting with the definition of the current line of control.
In addition, Ukraine demands financial compensation at the expense of frozen Russian assets, and a gradual easing of sanctions imposed on the Russian Federation is possible only after achieving sustainable peace, with a guarantee of their immediate restoration in case of violations.
As previously reported by EADaily, Reuters published the full text of the peace plan of US President Donald Trump, which was presented at a meeting in Paris. There are two points in it that have not been mentioned before, the Ukrainian edition of Strana reported.
