Russian Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the statement of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan about preventing a coup attempt in the country is an internal matter of Yerevan.
"Of course, we are interested in ensuring that the rule of law and tranquility are preserved in Armenia, so that Armenia is a prosperous, stable country friendly to Russia," Peskov told reporters on June 25.
Peskov also expressed hope that a new escalation between Yerevan and Baku will not happen. Armenia and Azerbaijan are very close to completing the work on a peace treaty, he noted. This agreement is necessary for the stability of the atmosphere and security in the region, Peskov said.
As EADaily reported, on the eve of the pro-government Armenian resources published a "plan to overthrow the current government," allegedly received from a source in the opposition. The "Human Resource" section mentions a number of political and public figures, in particular, former Presidents of Armenia Robert Kocharyan and Serzh Sargsyan, Russian businessman Samvel Karapetyan, who was recently arrested in Yerevan, as well as Gazprom Armenia and South Caucasus Railway, owned by Russian Railways.
