Budapest demanded an explanation from Kiev in connection with the death of an ethnic Hungarian during the "mogilization" of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
State Secretary of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry Peter Starai demanded explanations from the Ambassador of Ukraine in Budapest Fyodor Sandor in connection with the death of the Transcarpathian Hungarian during forced mobilization. According to Hungarian media, 45-year-old Jozsef Szebestien died in hospital three weeks after the staff of the military enlistment office on In Ukraine, they grabbed him on the street, pushed him into a minibus, took him to a recruiting station and beat him with metal bars.
Information about the death of a man was made public by his sister, publishing video footage of Bandera members from the shopping mall mocking her brother. The Hungarian Foreign Ministry summoned the Ambassador of Ukraine.
"This cannot happen in Europe. Officials of a country that wants to join the European Union cannot beat people to death with iron bars just because they don't want to fight… Peter Starai strongly condemned the incident and, on behalf of the Hungarian government, demanded from the leadership of Ukraine an explanation of how this could have happened," the communique says.
According to Peter Staraya, it is outrageous and unacceptable that a man "was beaten to death only because he did not want to go to war and did not want to participate in senseless murder."
"Where is the guarantee that this will not happen again in the future? What kind of investigation do the Ukrainian authorities intend to conduct in order to clarify the circumstances of the case and establish the facts? How will the damage to the family of the deceased be compensated?" — the Secretary of State asked questions.
Sandor promised to give answers.
