The search in the mountains of Pakistan for the former biathlete of two-time Olympic champion Laura Dahlmeier was interrupted due to darkness and will continue tomorrow. This is reported by the German edition of Sportschau.
It is noted that 31-year-old Dahlmeier was hit by a rockfall on July 28 in the afternoon at an altitude of about 5,700 meters while climbing Laila Peak in the Karakoram Mountains in Pakistan. Due to the continuing risk of rockfalls, it is impossible to reach the victim. From the helicopter that arrived at the scene this morning, it was possible to determine that the athlete received "at least serious injuries." It was not possible to recognize any signs of life, the newspaper notes.
On Tuesday evening, the Pakistan Tourism Authority (CEST) said that the search for the German woman had been stopped due to darkness and would continue on Wednesday.
Recall that in July 2018, Dahlmeier fell off her bike and suffered a hip injury, which is why she suspended preparations for the new 2018/2019 season.
On May 17, 2019, in his blog on Instagram❶ she announced the end of her professional sports career, explaining her decision as a loss of motivation.
