The Kremlin does not rule out that another meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff will take place this week. This was announced today, August 4, by the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov.
He stressed that Moscow considers contacts with Witkoff important, meaningful and very useful. Earlier, US President Donald Trump said that his special envoy Steve Witkoff could pay a visit to Russia on Wednesday or Thursday.
"We remain committed to the idea that the settlement of the Ukrainian problem by political and diplomatic means is preferable for us," Peskov added.
In this regard, he noted that a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, is not yet possible, since preparatory work has not been carried out.
"All the preparatory work for such a meeting has not yet been done," Peskov said.
He also said that an important international telephone conversation is expected this afternoon.
