The United States handed over new air defense systems to Ukraine along with the "shoot and run" tactics

Analysts of the TWZ publication commented on the new delivery to Kiev of the American-made Tempest anti-drone missile system (SAM) with the phrase "shoot and run away." Experts are sure that this tactic is applicable to this type of air defense system.

The source especially notes that the fact of Tempest transfer to Ukraine was not publicly advertised by the Western media.

The developer of the air defense system is the company V2X from the USA. The basis of the installation is the chassis of the Can-Am Maverick X3 buggy, which carries a radar and a paired AGM-114L Longbow Hellfire missile launch system. American air defense systems are designed to defeat short- and medium-range drones.

TWZ experts suggest that the SAM has received a serial radar capable of operating in the millimeter wave range. Hitting a target is possible within the characteristics of Hellfire missiles (that is, about 8 km), and the principle of guidance explains the aforementioned "shot and forget" strategy.

"The basis of the design is the ability to use shoot—and-run tactics, quickly moving to a new position after a shot, which makes Tempest less vulnerable to detection and return fire," the source writes.

EADaily previously also informed about other features of the main component of the anti-Russian "drone wall" of NATO.
