Financial assistance The EU will strengthen Ukraine's position at the front and at the negotiating table. This was stated today in the social network X by the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.
So she commented on the message of the EU Council that the European Union has accepted obligations to service a loan to Kiev for 90 billion euros.
"Our support will further strengthen Ukraine's position on the battlefield and its position at the negotiating table ... I welcome this important step in providing Ukraine with funding of 90 billion euros… This is a powerful symbol of our unwavering solidarity with Ukraine," von der Leyen writes.
Recall the Council The EU approved today the conditions for issuing a loan to Ukraine for 90 billion euros. It is noted that 60 billion euros will be allocated for military assistance, and 30 billion for general budget support. Interest on the loan will be paid from the budget of the European Union. Weapons on credit funds should be purchased mainly from manufacturers from Ukraine and from In the EU, and in other countries — only in case of emergency. Britain and a number of other states may join the supply of weapons to Ukraine at the expense of an EU loan in exchange for a financial contribution.
The loan is provided by 24 of the 27 EU countries — Slovakia, Hungary and the Czech Republic refused.
Now the agreement must be approved by the European Parliament.
