The EU countries have led themselves into a systemic crisis by abandoning Russian gas, and now the leading economies of the Old World are stagnating. This was pointed out by Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev, commenting on the decision The EU has announced a complete ban on imports of Russian liquefied natural gas from January 1, 2027, and pipeline gas from September 30, 2027.
"Actually, the recipe for a systemic crisis in which The EU has driven itself, it is ready: there is less and less Russian gas, and at the same time prices are getting higher. This caused the stagnation of the leading economies of the Old World, the reduction of industrial production and jobs there," Medvedev wrote on Facebook.
As the deputy chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation emphasized, "the steady decline in incomes and consumption levels, in turn, has led to the fact that Europeans are saving on everything, wrapping themselves in three layers of clothes because of the cold in their homes."
Earlier today, he also drew attention to the fact that Europe, having abandoned Russian energy carriers, drove itself into a monstrous trap and fell "into critical dependence on American gas," so now it will do whatever it is told from Washington.
EADaily reminds that Russia used to be the largest supplier of fossil fuels in the European energy sector. For example, a year before the start of SMO, in 2021 the Russian Federation became the largest exporter of oil and natural gas to the European Union, accounting for 40% of gas supplies consumed in the EU.
In 2022, Russia supplied only about 60 billion cubic meters of gas to the EU (a year earlier, deliveries amounted to 155 billion cubic meters). The reasons for such a sharp decline in supplies were sanctions The EU is against Russia and sabotage on the Nord Stream pipeline.
