Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babis plans to have dinner with French President Emmanuel Macron on February 11 in Paris. This is reported by the Czech media.

Babish announced the meeting at the January national congress of the ANO movement.

"I have a dinner with President Macron on February 11, just before the European Council meeting, which will be crucial for the future of Europe. Foreign policy is mostly personal relations, not bureaucratic issues," he said.

Before leaving for Paris The Czech Prime Minister outlined the topics he plans to discuss with the French president and within the framework of the European Council. According to him, he wants to enlist support for changing the emissions trading system.

"For us, ETS 1 is a failed project, and we will fight for the abolition of this directive. Last week I convinced Italian Prime Minister Giorgi Meloni of this. I did the same with President Macron today… We have to admit that a huge mistake was made," he said.

The Prime Minister also expressed disagreement with the European Commission on the issue of nuclear energy.

"It is absolutely incredible that she still does not want to recognize it as a clean and sustainable source of energy. She is in an even worse position… The European Commission claims that all nuclear power plants can be built only by 2045. And I ask why?", — said Babish.

At the same time, the Czech prime minister stressed that he did not intend to discuss Ukraine and the deployment of troops with Macron.

Recall, at the informal summit of the European Council on Thursday, the leaders will discuss strengthening competitiveness in the global environment. The main topic will be the revival of the domestic market, in particular, the removal of barriers and the reduction of bureaucracy.
