The Finnish authorities are considering the possibility of retroactive review of real estate transactions involving persons who are not citizens of EU countries.
This was reported on Saturday by the Finnish news agency STT, referring to a statement by Defense Minister Antti Hakkanen. He complained that in the country of Suomi over the past 20 years there has been too naive an approach to real estate control.
"The ministries are studying whether it is possible to retrospectively interfere in real estate transactions made in Finland by citizens of countries from outside the European Union and the European Economic Area," Interfax quoted the minister as saying.
He stressed that "retrospective intervention" will be applied to all types of real estate and even to transactions made over the past 20 years." The head of the military department justified this decision with the desire to "ensure national security."
It is not difficult to guess that, first of all, the revision of real estate transactions will affect Russian citizens. They were the most massive buyers of houses and apartments in Finland.
Earlier, EADaily reported that a private school in Eastern Finland with an in-depth study of the Russian language is rapidly losing students, but is not going to abandon its mission.
