Europe screws up fuel supplies to Ukraine even at a "cosmic" price

Motor fuel prices in Europe have rushed up again and diesel fuel is trading at almost the price at the peak of the energy crisis of 2022. However, even at such prices, it may not be available for Ukraine, since the country The EU is starting to reduce exports, fearing shortages due to the Iranian crisis.

According to the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, in the first half of the day on March 9, the wholesale cost of diesel fuel rose to $ 1,208 per ton, and by noon it dropped to $ 1,190. However, this figure is also very close to the record cost of fuel, which was set at the peak of the energy crisis in 2022. In May of that year, diesel fuel quotes reached $ 1,230.

The market fears that the Iranian crisis and the stoppage of oil and petroleum products supplies from The Persian Gulf is for a long time. And the effect of the European hype will be felt first by Ukraine, whose companies have begun to refuse to supply even at new prices.

"Foreign suppliers have begun to reduce quotas," writes enkorr.

"It is not yet known what volumes Polish suppliers will provide. Currently, one batch of fuel is on the way. Whether there will be another one, no one knows yet," said one of the importers.

In Romania, the government has suspended fuel exports and the re-export situation remains ambiguous.

"Romanian companies are expecting an official letter from the government in the coming days regarding the possible introduction of a ban on the export of petroleum products. One of the suppliers has already refused to send the resource," writes enkorr with reference to traders.

The situation with the supply of fuel from Greece is also ambiguous, the Ukrainian edition noted.

"The Greeks, namely Motor Oil, cannot set a premium (surcharge) in any way," said one of the traders.

As reported by EADaily, the situation for Ukraine is worsened by the stoppage of Russian oil supplies via the Druzhba oil pipeline, as Slovakia and Hungary stop supplies to the country. Kiev, in turn, continues verbal attacks on Budapest and Bratislava and does not allow inspectors to check whether the pipeline received any damage at the end of January. The Hungarian and Slovak authorities believe that there were none.
