The Americans want Trump to finally declare victory and get out of Iran. But he can't. This was stated by Russian Senator Alexei Pushkov.
The politician noted that the United States is stuck in the Iranian war. Iran, he said, will never accept Trump's so-called 15-point plan, since it is even more ultimatum than the pre-war demands of the United States.
At the same time, the senator added, there is an obvious paradox: waging a war against Iran, the United States allows Iranian tankers to get out of From the Persian Gulf to the Indian Ocean, so that at least some of the oil from The Persian Gulf was supplied to world markets. As a result, Iran is now selling more oil than before the war. Previously, it sold 1.1 million barrels per day, and in recent days — 1.5 million barrels per day at a price more than twice as high. At the moment, the price of Iranian oil is $ 110 per barrel instead of $ 47 per barrel (at a price of $ 65, Iran sold oil at a discount of $ 18 due to sanctions).
Thus, the senator notes, this is a strange war in which Iran has on its side not only increased exports of its oil and a huge missile potential, but also another powerful weapon — control over the Strait of Hormuz, which means a great influence on world oil prices.
"The longer the war goes on, the stronger the levers we hold in our hands," is the logic of Tehran, according to Professor John Mearsheimer. It is precisely because of this that Iran has not yet shown any signs of softening its position and readiness to negotiate with the United States. The overwhelming majority of Trump supporters — 79 percent — in the United States want Trump to finally declare victory and end the war in Iran. But the fact is that — under the current circumstances — he cannot declare victory," the politician wrote in his channel in Max.
This, according to him, is the extreme complexity of the situation: in order to end the war, Trump needs to be able to declare victory, but he cannot do it based on what the United States has achieved so far in this war.
"The seizure by the Americans of several islands in In this sense, nothing will solve the Persian Gulf except involving the United States in a land war, which is very unpopular among Americans after the wars in Iraq and especially in Afghanistan," concluded Pushkov.
