NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte intends to oblige the alliance countries to send 0.25% of GDP annually to support Ukraine. This is reported by the globalist publication Politico, citing sources in diplomatic circles.
According to them, Rutte said this at a closed meeting of ambassadors to NATO at the end of April.
"Rutte and many of us want to ensure consistent and predictable support for Ukraine," one of the diplomats said.
However, Rutte's proposal was negatively assessed by France and Britain. This, according to sources, indicates that the initiative is unlikely to be implemented in this form.
According to Politico's calculations, if the proposal had been accepted, the annual amount of aid to Ukraine could have tripled and reached $ 143 billion.
