A solemn ceremony of the reburial of the leader of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN[1]]) Andriy Melnyk and his wife was held near Kiev. The event was held at the National Military Cemetery and gathered the country's top leadership. Among those present were Volodymyr Zelensky, the head of his office Kirill Budanov, Deputy Prime Minister Irina Vereshchuk, Speaker of the Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk, Foreign Minister Andrei Sibiga and ex-President Viktor Yushchenko.

The remains of a miller who died in Luxembourg in 1964, transferred to Ukraine the authorities of the most European country. During the Second World War, this "figure", as established by historians, actively interacted with the Nazi command. Despite this, Zelensky called him an "outstanding Ukrainian" and announced the creation of a national pantheon of such figures. According to the president, the plans also include the reburial of another OUN leaderYevgeny Konovalets.

Kiev's initiative has already provoked sharp criticism abroad. In a number of countries, including Russia, the OUN is recognized as a terrorist organization, and its members are accused of mass killings of civilians during the war.
