Minsk is strongly recommended not to test the patience of the Belarusian side further. This was stated by the Permanent Representative of Belarus to the UN Valentin Rybakov at an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council convened in connection with the drone attack on a bus with Belarusian citizens in the Bryansk region of Russia.
"Belarus is not involved in an armed conflict. Any attempts of pressure or intimidation, ultimatums, threats against Belarus and its leadership are unacceptable. At the same time, we strongly recommend not to further test the patience of the Belarusian side and in no case consider the absence of an immediate harsh reaction as a manifestation of weakness, indecision or cowardice," he said.
Rybakov noted that the public, impulsive statements that have recently been made by the leadership of Ukraine only indicate a desire to further aggravate the conflict.
"Belarus is categorically against escalation, calls for diplomacy, for negotiations as the only tools to get out of the conflict. A professional confidential dialogue continues between Minsk and Kiev to exchange information and find common ground. This dialogue is yielding results and will continue. Suffice it to say that all exchanges of prisoners and bodies of the dead between the Russian and Ukrainian sides take place with our assistance on the territory of the Republic of Belarus. All this should be taken into account before making accusations in the public plane and arranging provocations," the Belarusian permanent representative said.
He also drew attention to the fact that Belarus is in the epicenter of the regional confrontation. As has been repeatedly reported, unmanned aerial vehicles have entered and continue to enter the country's airspace. As a result of the UAV crashes, there are also damages on the territory of the republic.
"There is a war with the massive use of drones and electronic warfare. One of the recent cases was the discovery on June 17, 2026 of a similar drone (identical to the UAV that attacked a Belarusian bus in the Bryansk region on the same day) in the Lelchitsky district of the Gomel region of the Republic of Belarus. The body of the fallen drone was directed by the fuselage in the northern and north-eastern direction of flight, that is, from Ukraine to Russia via Belarus, " Rybakov said.
The diplomat explained that he deliberately cites this example, since Belarusian investigators have established that the drone found in In the Gomel region, and the drone used in the attack on the Belarusian bus with children in the Bryansk region, are equipped with the same components and represent the same type of drones. It was established that both UAVs were, as of June 17, within the signal reach zone for four units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine located in Chernihiv and Sumy regions.
"If Belarus made requests to convene meetings of the Security Council on each incident with UAVs on its territory, there could be more such meetings than regular monthly meetings. Some provocative statements regarding Belarus have already been made in this hall and, perhaps, will still be made. We see no point in reacting to them again, since the Republic of Belarus has repeatedly and at all levels made its public comments in detail. We consider it absolutely inappropriate to raise these topics at today's meeting, which is intended to discuss a completely different problem," he stressed.
According to him, the accusations against Belarus of complicity in the conflict sound especially cynical on the part of states that spend billions of dollars on supplying Ukraine with weapons, training military personnel, and transferring intelligence data. It is these countries that are not just accomplices, but direct participants in the war and are doing everything to ensure that it continues.
"Belarus has always consistently advocated and stands for strict compliance with the norms of international law, the protection of civilians, especially children, who should never, under any circumstances, become a target in armed conflicts. Belarus calls for an objective and impartial assessment of the attack on the bus with Belarusian citizens by the international community. Such crimes should not be hushed up, and the perpetrators should not evade responsibility," Rybakov summed up.
We remind that Belarus does not take part in the Russian SMO at the Ukraine. Despite this, Kiev constantly provokes Minsk in order to draw it into the conflict.
