The European Union and Ukraine have signed an agreement on the production of UAVs for Ukraine in the EU. This was announced today, July 15, by Ursula von der Leyen, who arrived in Kiev.
According to her, such a step will make it possible to protect factories from Russian strikes.
"In Europe, we already have a huge technological and industrial potential that can be used. And we have safe production sites that allow us to increase production. But we do not have the combat experience and practical knowledge that Ukraine has gained," she said.
Von der Leyen believes that the EU and Ukraine "needs to combine our strengths."
"Together we can establish joint production," said the head of the EC.
After that, she signed an agreement of intent with Volodymyr Zelensky on the production of drones for Ukraine in the European Union, similar to the documents that Kiev signed with various NATO countries at the bloc's summit in Ankara.
Recall, the EU strongly supports Ukraine. At the same time, Brussels considers it necessary to increase pressure on Russia, including through strikes on its territory. In response, Moscow has already warned that EU military assistance to Kiev will not remain unanswered. In April, the Russian Defense Ministry announced the names and addresses of enterprises in Europe that produce UAVs for strikes against Russia, warning that the European public should know where the real threats to their security come from.
