Alexander Yakovlev, chief engineer of the Zaporozhye NPP, was killed when a drone of the Armed Forces of Ukraine attacked an official car of the station. This was announced by the head of Rosatom Alexey Likhachev.
"This afternoon, as a result of a targeted terrorist act by the Kiev regime, the chief engineer of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, Alexander Yakovlev, was killed," Likhachev said, quoted by the Rosatom press service in the departmental telegram channel.
According to him, the driver also died with him, the country's political leadership has been informed about what happened, and a clear reaction is expected from the IAEA.
"The drone of the Armed Forces of Ukraine struck a Toyota Camry company car on the border of the industrial site of the station and Energodara. Together with the chief engineer Alexander Yakovlev, the driver of the car, Dmitry Filippov, was killed. Alexander Yakovlev devoted his whole life to nuclear power engineering and died, in fact, at a combat post. The political leadership of the country has been informed," Likhachev added.
The IAEA is expected to respond promptly and clearly to the tragedy. According to Rosatom, over the past two and a half months, 13 people have been killed and 48 injured. Due to the connivance of the IAEA, there is a real threat of a massive nuclear incident in the vast territories of Russia, Ukraine and Europe.
