European jet fuel went to Kazakhstan: without Russia, fuel is searched everywhere

The batch of jet fuel arrived in Georgia for Kazakhstan. Left without Russian jet fuel, the country's companies are looking for fuel from any other sources.

Kaztransoil announced the arrival of a batch of jet fuel to Batumi Oil Terminal (BNT), which belongs to the national company.

"In July 2026, a foreign asset JSC "KazTransOil" in Georgia — Batumi Oil Terminal (BNT) — after an eight—year break, it resumed transshipment of aviation kerosene, becoming a key reference point for aviation fuel supplies from Europe to Kazakhstan via the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (Middle Corridor),"Kaztransoil reports.

They clarified that the terminal has started processing JET A1 aviation kerosene produced by European oil refineries, expanding the range of transshipment cargo.

"The first batch of aviation kerosene with a volume of 10 thousand tons was delivered to BNT by sea via the Black Sea. Currently, the cargo is placed at the terminal and is awaiting the arrival of railway tank cars for subsequent shipment to the Republic of Kazakhstan," the national company said.

Kazakhstan started importing European jet fuel from Europe after a decrease in supplies from Russia, where fuel production decreased after the APU attacks.

Traders told Reuters that the export of aviation fuel by rail from Russia's exports to Central Asia and Afghanistan decreased by more than 92% in June compared to May — to 3.8 thousand tons.

The arrived batch is approximately 3% of the volume that Russia supplies annually, and approximately 3-4 days of consumption of Kazakhstani airports.

In June, the Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan Yerlan Akkenzhenov stated that private Kazakhstani companies had purchased about 3 thousand tons of fuel in China, and this batch had already arrived in the country. According to him, Kazakhstan has signed indicative balances with Russia for 300 thousand tons of aviation fuel and 186 thousand tons have already been selected.
