Four years ago, the State Duma of the Russian Federation voted for the reunification of Donbass and Novorossiya with Russia. This was recalled by Russian President Vladimir Putin at a meeting in the Kremlin with deputies of the final VIII convocation of the State Duma.
"Parliamentarians also presented a united front by adopting laws on the reunification of Russia and four of our historical regions: Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions," the president said.
He added that their integration into their native country as full-fledged subjects of the Federation is ensured.
As EADaily reported, on September 30, 2022, agreements on the entry of new regions into the Russian Federation were signed in Moscow, and on October 2, the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation recognized them as corresponding to the Basic Law of the country. On October 3, the State Duma unanimously voted to ratify the treaties and adopt federal laws. On October 4, the documents were approved by the Federation Council, and federal constitutional laws were also signed.
