By the New Year, according to the Telegram channel MASH, caviar will rise in price by about 20%. And all this despite a drop in demand by about a third over the past five years. The reason, the source writes, is the increase in the cost of sturgeon feed and transportation of products.
The average cost of a kilogram of black caviar is now 90 thousand rubles, but by the New Year holidays it may rise to 110 thousand. If we talk about jars, then this is 12-13 thousand rubles instead of 9-10 thousand.
According to caviar producers, up to 45-50% of the cost is accounted for by specialized feeds, which are constantly becoming more expensive. Plus, over the past year, the cost of logistics has increased by 30%, and the circle of consumers is still very narrow.
"The main demand now rests on wealthy people. They take caviar in kilograms — for big holidays," the channel quotes the opinion of one of the market participants.
From abroad, the post-Soviet countries remain permanent and large consumers of black caviar. Large US markets and Singapore has stopped importing so far.
