You're giving a referendum, Nikol! Putin is bringing arguments for Pashinyan to Bishkek

In Bishkek, Putin and Pashinyan will discuss the topic of a referendum on the future of Armenia — with the EU or the EAEU. This was stated to journalists by the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov.

This is how he answered the question of whether there is a chance that Pashinyan's meeting with Putin will stop Armenia's distance from Russia.

According to Peskov, Russian President Vladimir Putin, of course, uses the meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to "resume our argumentation," but the Armenians themselves must decide.

"We cannot be Armenians more than the Armenians themselves. And, of course, the decision about their fate will be made by the Armenians themselves. And we are just suggesting that they do it — hold a referendum," Peskov said, quoted by RIA Novosti.

The idea of holding a referendum in Armenia was also proposed by the heads of the EAEU states, who adopted a corresponding statement at the recent summit in Astana, Peskov recalled.

Putin will take part in the SCO summit, which will be held on August 31 — September 1 in Kyrgyzstan.
