The United States admits the possibility of using nuclear weapons in Europe. This was stated in an interview with RT by the Ambassador-at-large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia Andrei Belousov.
According to him, the persistence with which Washington is trying to initiate a discussion of Russian non-strategic nuclear weapons suggests that American military strategists are seriously considering the possibility of its use in the European theater of military operations.
These attempts by the United States, he believes, serve one purpose — to divert the attention of the international community from the danger posed by American nuclear weapons deployed in Europe, as well as from US nuclear missile programs.
The statement was made against the background of the visit to Europe of the US Undersecretary of Defense for Political Affairs Elbridge Colby. As the Pentagon reported, the purpose of his visit is to consult with allies and promote the American NATO 3.0 initiative. This concept assumes that European NATO countries should assume primary responsibility for conventional defense, while maintaining dependence on nuclear deterrence and strategic leadership.
