The head of the Department of Efficiency of the US government (DOGE), Elon Musk, accused former US President Joe Biden of "killing" chickens. According to him, Biden "ordered" the killing of tens of millions of chickens.
"By order of the Biden administration, an insane murder of 150 million laying hens took place," Musk said in a message on the social network X.
According to CNN, the "killings" were a requirement of the US Department of Agriculture to contain the spread of highly contagious bird flu. It has infected 100 million birds since 2022, according to the American Farm Bureau Federation.
Now there is a shortage of eggs in the USA, their prices have soared several times in recent weeks.

The Association of Poultry Meat and Egg Producers and Exporters said that in 2024, due to the spread of avian influenza in the United States, there was a shortage of eggs and rising prices. The US government has allowed the import of eggs from other countries.
One of the largest poultry farms in Azerbaijan — Giltzi Quşçuluq — has been certified according to American standards and received permission to export table eggs to the United States. Since March, the company starts regular export of eggs to the USA.
