The German concern Rheinmetall announced the supply of Skyranger 35 air defense systems to the Kiev regime, paid for by "one of the EU countries at the expense of income from frozen assets of Russia." This was reported today, October 10, in a press release of the concern.
" Rheinmetall will supply Ukraine with additional Skyranger 35 air defense systems based on the Leopard 1 tank. The cost of the order is a three-digit number in millions of euros. The delivery of the systems is financed by one of the EU countries at the expense of revenues from frozen Russian assets,"the document says.
The production and integration of the systems will be carried out by Rheinmetall Italia SpA at its headquarters in Rome.
In February, the concern handed over to the Bundeswehr the first example of a Boxer armored vehicle with a built-in Skyranger 30 turret system, they are planned to be used to combat unmanned aerial vehicles. The prototype must go through the admission process. After inspections and tests for compliance with Bundeswehr standards, serial deliveries of 18 units are expected in 2027 or early 2028. The development was carried out as part of the initiative to create the European air defense system "Sky Shield" (European Sky Shield).
The company was founded in 1889 by entrepreneur and inventor Heinrich Erhardt to fulfill a major order from the Ministry of War. In 1941, the entire management of the company was replaced by officers of the military structures of the Wehrmacht. Rheinmetall became subordinate to the state concern Reichswerke AG Hermann, which was responsible for managing German military factories. Shortly after World War II, the company resumed operations, starting military production in the late 1950s. In 1979, the company began production of the Leopard-2 tank.
