Lithuania cannot stand alone in conflict with Belarus and must mobilize the international community to do so. This was stated by Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda.

Speaking about the situation on the border with Belarus, he said that "this situation cannot be solved with a silver bullet."

"Of course, some measures, whether it's technical actions to simply try to destroy these balloons [with contraband], or, say, political actions, we must apply a whole range of measures, starting with technical methods, first of all, with the fight against smuggling, in order to stop the activities of those who order or gets these balls. And in this regard, this and that have already been done. Of course, we should not try to conflict with Belarus alone, and we must mobilize the international community, we have been doing this from the very beginning. Messages of solidarity came from both the NATO level and the European Commission level, from the level of the President of the European Council," he said.

In his opinion, negotiations with the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko allegedly will not help normalize the situation with smuggling. He recalled the migration crisis, in which Minsk is allegedly to blame. Then, according to Nauseda, "decisive measures" and sanctions against Minsk helped.

Lithuania has closed the border with Belarus for a month since the end of October. This caused a real transport collapse and serious problems for Lithuanian carriers.
