The first competitions at the Winter Olympic Games in Italy were interrupted due to lighting problems at the arena in Cortina d'Ampezzo. The games were opened by a meeting of mixed pairs in curling.
The teams of the following countries take part in the competition: Sweden — South Korea, Canada — Czech Republic, Estonia — Switzerland, Great Britain — Norway.
Shortly after the start of the match, lighting problems began to be observed in the arena, RBC notes. The competition was stopped, the break lasted about five minutes.
As EADaily reported, the official opening ceremony of the XXV Winter Olympic Games will be held on February 6 at the San Siro Stadium in Milan, and the closing ceremony will be held at the historic Arena di Verona on February 22.
The Olympiad will be attended by 13 Russian athletes who will compete in a neutral status. Russian athletes do not participate in curling competitions.
