The main power plant of the Kiev region could not be restored without kickbacks

After the retaliatory strikes of the Russian army on the main power plant of the Kiev region, it was urgently restored more than once. However, it did not work without kickbacks. Officially, more than $ 1 million was stolen at work.

"Law enforcement officers have eliminated a large-scale scheme of appropriation of more than UAH 50 million during emergency recovery work at the Tripoli thermal power plant (Kiev region)," Ekonomicheskaya Pravda reports with reference to the National Police, the SBU and Office of the Prosecutor General.

According to them, from 2023 to 2025, contractors won tenders and signed contracts for the execution of state orders for the restoration of the Tripoli TPP for a total amount of more than 500 million UAH.

"The suspects artificially inflated the cost of services, building materials and technical equipment during repairs, and the resulting difference was distributed among all participants in the scheme," the newspaper writes.

Investigators found that contractors purchased materials from controlled firms at a price 30% higher than the market and the additional cost amounted to UAH 50 million, which they cashed out.

"Now six defendants, among them three organizers of the scheme, two heads of private companies and their accomplice, have been informed of suspicion," the newspaper reports.

During the searches, the detainees found more than UAH 19 million in cash.
