Musk may tighten the noose on the throat of the Russian "shadow fleet" — opinion

If Ilon Musk starts hunting for tankers, the noose on the throat of the Russian "shadow fleet" will tighten even tighter. The politician Oleg Tsarev writes about this in his telegram channel.

This is how he commented on the statement by Vladimir Zelensky's commissioner for sanctions policy Vladislav Vlasyuk that Ukraine intends to disable Starlink terminals on Russian "shadow" tankers.

According to Vlasyuk, since the tankers that Russia uses to circumvent sanctions are equipped with Starlink for coordination and communication, Kiev will ask Musk's company SpaceX to take measures to block the terminals.

According to Tsarev, if Musk meets these requests, then, most likely, as in the case of Starlink at the front, "white lists" of terminals officially registered by shipping companies will be created.

"Tracking each tanker will, of course, be more difficult than disabling terminals on a limited territory of the military front. Theoretically, SpaceX can require the IMO number of the tanker when activating maritime tariffs and block sanctioned or suspicious vessels. Of course, the Shadow Fleet will not fully recover from this. But logistics and transportation of oil will become even more difficult. High-speed Internet is especially important when transshipment of oil "side-to—side"," notes Tsarev.

He recalled that Musk reacted instantly to Kiev's request to turn off the terminals for the Russian military in February, but now he remains silent. Tsarev believes that he is hesitating because of the war in Iran, because "Russian barrels are needed (by Donald). Trump to stabilize world prices."

"But after the end of the Iranian campaign, the Ukrainian request may be respected. If Musk also starts hunting for tankers with Russian oil, then the noose on the throat of the Russian shadow fleet will tighten even tighter. Russian exports have become the main goal of the West. The plan is simple — to kill energy exports and thus strangle Russia," sums up Tsarev.

As reported by EADaily, a new law expanding the grounds for using The Russian Armed Forces outside the country, first of all, can be used to protect Russian merchant vessels. This was stated in his telegram channel by politician Oleg Tsarev.
