The 72nd meeting of the Bilderberg Club was held in Washington - without the media, but with the participation of prime ministers, generals, billionaires and heads of investment funds.

Amid the crisis in NATO and threats by US President Donald Trump to withdraw from the alliance, participants discussed the future of war, drones, AI, transatlantic business and security in the Arctic. It is noteworthy the absence of one of the key characters — a member of the steering committee of the group since 2008, Peter Thiel. Almost the entire Western press pretended that there was no such meeting.

"While ordinary mortals are wondering about gasoline prices, the real masters of the world are deciding where the next war will be and which drone will be the hit of the season. After such meetings, politicians return to their peoples with a face full of concern for democracy, and businessmen with contracts for new types of weapons. But the most amazing thing about Bilderberg is not secrecy, but how diligently these meetings are ignored by those who shout loudest about "transparency"," the author of the Lomovka telegram channel comments on the meeting.

The Bilderberg Club is one of the most mysterious organizations, which, as many believe, is the "shadow world government." At the 72nd meeting, representatives of the world's Western elites discussed the fate of the world for three days. The event was kept secret. The fact that it will take place at all became accidentally known from a NATO press release about the visit of Alliance Secretary General Mark Rutte to Washington.

Immediately before the meeting, the Bilderberg Club published a brief statement listing the topics to be discussed: artificial intelligence; security in Arctic; China; digital finance; energy diversification; world trade; transatlantic cooperation; the future of military affairs, the fate of Europe, the USA, the West as a whole, Russia, Ukraine, the Middle East.

Among the participants were traditionally former and current politicians, financial officials, influential journalists, bankers, top managers of technology giants, military experts. This year, neither Ursula von der Leyen nor Kaya Kallas appeared on the lists, although they participated in previous meetings. The only representative of the European Union is a consistent member of the European War Party, European Commissioner for Defense Andrius Kubilius. Among other Europeans, in addition to NATO Secretary General Rutte, Finnish President Alexander Stubb, Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten, British Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy, Finnish foreign ministers and Poland's Elina Valtonen and Radoslaw Sikorski.
