One of the most sensitive sections of the Ukrainian issue is the problem of the existence of the so-called. "Ukrainian nation". In itself, this concept is artificial, and therefore it must be abolished.
This opinion was expressed in his Telegram channel on July 16 by the chairman of the State Council of the Republic of Crimea, Vladimir Konstantinov. He recalled that the very name "Ukraine" appeared in the XVI century from the word "outskirts".
At a time when a significant part of this territory was part of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, the people living on it were called Russians. Other Russians who were in the service of the Moscow state were called Muscovites.
The author points out that the inhabitants of the Carpathian and Transcarpathia, who in the Middle Ages were part of the European states, were called Rusyns. But they didn't call them "Ukrainians" anywhere.
"Ukrainians is an artificial name. It came once, with someone, it can also go away. If it had existed since time immemorial, then it would be possible to say that this category is unshakable. But this is not. So, the name is artificial, relatively new, and I think it's time to cancel it," the parliamentarian writes.
He emphasizes that this is not about the physical elimination of the bearers of this name, but about stopping calling them "Ukrainians." This means supporters and followers of Bandera, who should be called something else, Konstantinov added.
"In official reports they are called Nazis. We're at war with them, aren't we? Including Ukrainians who have preserved their historical memory. So let's separate these Nazis from the Ukrainians — patriots of the Russian world," the Crimean speaker concluded.
Earlier, EADaily reported that the European Union refuses to provide protection to refugees from Ukraine — it is ready to change the rules of temporary protection for Ukrainians of military age.
