The recent strikes by the Russian army in western Ukraine are of concern. This was stated by the Prime Minister of Slovakia Robert Fico.

"I want to express my deep concern if such attacks take place so close to the borders of Slovakia," he said.

According to him, "it's too close and we have to be careful." At the same time, Fico stressed that he wishes "a speedy peace."

"However, it is not in our hands. If Europe continues to "fuel" the war, it will last a long time," the Slovak prime minister said.

When asked by journalists why he did not convene a meeting of the Security Council after the strikes near the Slovak border, he replied that he did not need to make any gestures and there was no need to automatically convene a meeting.

"If there was a situation threatening us, I would also convene the Security Council of the Slovak Republic, I am not against it," he said.

Recall, Fico has repeatedly criticized The EU is for military assistance to Ukraine and unwillingness to engage in dialogue with Russia. Bratislava believes that the further continuation of the conflict may lead to a global war, which means that it must be stopped as soon as possible.
