The EU leadership is not yet ready for a constructive dialogue with Russia on Ukraine. The prospects for such contacts directly depend on Brussels' readiness to reconsider its anti-Russian foreign policy course.

This position was expressed to Izvestia by Vladislav Maslennikov, director of the Department of European Problems of the Russian Foreign Ministry. He stressed that the most important condition for a diplomatic settlement is the EU's respect for Russia's interests.

"The prospects for our contacts with the European Union directly depend on the real willingness of its leadership to reconsider the anti—Russian foreign policy course and to properly respect our legitimate interests," Maslennikov said.

He recalled that Moscow has never refused dialogue with Europe, but on the contrary, has always advocated the settlement of existing problems through diplomacy.

As reported by EADaily, Europe may enter into a dialogue with Russia as early as 2026. This was stated by the President of Finland Alexander Stubb, who announced his readiness to be a representative of the European Union in negotiations with the Russian Federation.
