Polish President Karol Nawrocki said that the country's Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysh "made a fool of himself" amid a dispute over an agreement on cooperation in the field of security and defense between Poland and the UK. Interia.pl .

The conflict arose after the words of the head of the Bureau of International Policy Marcin Pshidach that the presidential administration was not consulted about the treaty before it was signed. He later clarified that the text of the agreement was submitted to the presidential office the day before the signing.

Kosinyak-Kamysh responded by saying that he would like the presidential administration to "finally rejoice that Poland has become safer," and criticized Navrotsky's position on the agreement.

"He did not join this team of his own free will," the minister said.

The president, in turn, stated that he had not received sufficient information about the document and that the National Security Bureau had not analyzed it.

"And I have no information about the current negotiations, about the discussions. The National Security Bureau did not conduct any analyses, so Kosinyak-Kamysh made a fool of himself. The government has not done a certain job," Navrotsky said.

A few days earlier, the UK and Poland has signed an agreement in the field of defense, providing, in particular, cooperation in the development of medium-range anti-aircraft missiles, combating "hybrid threats" from Russia, joint arms purchases and military exercises.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer called the document "a rise for a whole generation" in the field of defense cooperation, and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that the treaty would help strengthen security in the face of the "Russian threat."

Russian President Vladimir Putin called statements about a possible attack on NATO "an incredible lie," but noted his readiness to respond to the militarization of Europe.
