Russian President Vladimir Putin called for the assignment of the general rank to the commander of the 6th Motorized Rifle Division, Colonel Alexander Kartavkin, for the liberation of Konstantinovka in the DPR.

According to RIA Novosti, the head of state raised this issue on July 3 during a meeting at the auxiliary command post of the joint group of forces.

The commander of the "Southern" grouping of troops, Sergei Medvedev, reported to the president on the progress of the liberation of Konstantinovka. The units of the 4th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade under the command of Major General Anton Grunis and the 6th Motorized Rifle Division under the command of Colonel Alexander Kartavkin were named the most distinguished.

Putin addressed the head of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov after the reports of the commanders from the battlefields were heard.

"As for Alexander Viktorovich (Kartavkin. — Ed.), I looked at the documents — he has been in this position for a year, more than a year," the commander—in-chief said.

Gerasimov in response clarified that Kartavkin has been in the post of colonel for less than one year. Nevertheless, the commander-in-chief drew attention to the fact that the brigade commander Gunis is already a general, and Kartavkin is a colonel, "although he commands the division."

The President asked Gerasimov to "pay attention to this." The head of the General Staff in response promised that he would submit a report on Kartavkin , and about the achievements of a number of other honored officers.

Earlier, EADaily reported that the Russian army liberated the city of Konstantinovka in the DPR. The military reported to the head of state that during the fighting, our troops dissected the AFU grouping into separate pockets, which they consistently destroyed.
