After the songs were banned in Latvia, the Maestro said that "no one forbids anything" to him

Soviet and Latvian composer Raymond Pauls, a number of whose songs are planned to be banned from broadcasting on the radio in Latvia, does not personally face cancellations. He stated this to RIA Novosti.

"This issue has already been removed. Everything was turned out in an ugly way: I was talking about canceling one concert due to a health situation, but in the end it turned out to be a mistake of the newspapers," said the legendary composer.

"I do not face cancellations, no one forbids me anything," Pauls confidently added.

As EADaily reported, earlier the Latvian Seimas adopted in the second reading a bill banning radio stations from playing songs whose authors are persons under sanctions. If the amendment to the law on electronic media is adopted in the third reading, eight Pauls songs will be banned from broadcasting in the country due to the authors of the lyrics. This list includes such immortal hits as "Million scarlet roses", "Vernissage", "Maestro", "Antique Clock", "Business Time" and "Without me". During the discussion of the initiative, the deputies emphasized that it was only about broadcasting songs by sanctioned authors on the radio.

Pauls reacted to the ban indifferently.

"Let them forbid it. Whoever has the power, let him decide," he said.

Later, the Maestro announced that he would not take part in the concert on August 3 at the Dzintari Hall. At the same time, the poster of the Dzintari concert hall on August 3 shows a concert by Israeli singer Yasmin Levy. The name of Pauls is indicated only in the concert on September 5, which will be the final event of the season.

Further, the 90-year-old Pauls said that he did not plan to complete the creative courier, but only took a break for treatment.

"But how will I finish my career? I will finish only when God says," the musician emphasized.
