Neither actor nor director: People's Artist of the Russian Federation described the ideal rector of the Moscow Art Theater School-Studio

Theater and film actor, People's Artist of Russia Boris Shcherbakov told how he represents the ideal candidate for the post of rector of the Moscow Art Theater School-Studio.

"I think it should not be an actor or a director. The rector is the director, " the artist told RIA Novosti.

This is how he considers the former rector of the university, theater critic, teacher, theater historian, Honored Artist of Russia Anatoly Smelyansky.

"It should be a good director who loves actors madly. He should adore students," Shcherbakov is sure.

At the same time, the artist added that he does not yet know a person who could head a studio School.

As EADaily reported, the director, Honored Artist of Russia Konstantin Bogomolov, appointed acting rector of the Studio School on January 23, announced his resignation on February 11 amid active criticism of former graduates and university teachers.

After that, the Ministry of Culture of Russia announced that Bogomolov was relieved of his duties as rector of the Moscow Art Theater Studio School at his own request. The decision on the appointment of the acting rector will be made in accordance with the established procedure, the department added.

Later, a TASS source named possible candidates for the position of rector of the Studio School. This short list includes: theater and film actor, People's Artist of Russia, artistic director of the Moscow Provincial Theater Sergey Bezrukov; actor, People's Artist of Russia and State Duma deputy Dmitry Pevtsov; as well as artistic director of the Pushkin Theater Yevgeny Pisarev.

Both Singers and Bezrukov immediately recused themselves.
